Open Hearth Cooking Experience & Dinner
May 31, 2025
Join living historian Jerome Bias for an immersive, hands-on cooking experience as he leads the group in preparing traditional early Southern dishes over an open hearth. Throughout this all-day event, participants will actively engage in both the preparation of the meal, southern foodways, and the exploration of how a sense of community can be developed. Once the meal is ready, guests are invited to gather around a community table to share in the fruits of their labor, fostering a sense of fellowship and connection. Funds raised from this event will support the preservation of historic properties in Alamance County.
The menu will include a variety of locally sourced, seasonal vegetables along with Bavarian pork roast, cornbread kush, and delicious apple brandy cornmeal pound cake*. Vegetarian options are available.
Tickets are on sale starting April 4th and can be purchased online at https://preservation-burlington.square.site/
